Bryony’s artwork stems from a love of storytelling, movement and colour, the wonderfully humorous yet slightly macabre motifs of playing cards and circus, the more unusual Punch & Judy which have recently inspired her, along with the mythical beasts of Greek legend and Heraldry.
Relishing in creating intricate, articulated metal objects, Bryony’s artwork entices the observer to reach out and touch them. She accomplishes this skilfully using the varied colour combinations created from working with silver, copper, brass and steel. Bryony achieves her beautifully unusual designs by employing a range of techniques including; repoussing, chasing, fretwork, etching and simple mechanics.
After graduating with a Masters of Design from The Glasgow School of Arts in 1999, Bryony set up her own workshop and business in central Glasgow. Having moved to South-East London and had three successful years with a studio in Cockpit Arts, Bryony returned to Scotland and continues to produce her artwork based in the Coburg House Studios in Leigh, Edinburgh.
Bryony crafts a wide range of handmade, semi functional art pieces, from napkin rings and decanters to sculptural wall lights, all of which have movement as an intrinsic part of their design. For the past fourteen years Bryony has been selling and exhibiting in galleries throughout Britain, abroad and online, whilst also undertaking larger and more intricate private and public commissions.
