Brigid painted this wonderful piece in Madeira, where she saw a Cathedral being repaired. Brigid described how the blue dustsheets looked beautiful with the golden altar behind shimmering through. This made her think of the inner life of the Church, which needed repairing - with all the abuse in the Church, Brigid painted a wounded dove to symbolise the damage the abuse had caused to the life of the Church. She felt that only the children could bring about the restoration of the Church.
Original painting, presented in an elaborate carved gold frame, 4” wide custom-made in Holland.
Size: 54" x 36"
