This artwork comes from Barbara's 'Tango' series of photographs and paintings. Monica and Omar O’Campos are an older married couple of show dancers from Argentina who travel throughout Europe performing and teaching. I attended their workshop and saw them perform in Leeds.
I was lucky enough to get some interesting photos of their performance. It’s an improvised dance so outcomes are unpredictable. This picture was unexpectedly foreshortened and as they were so close to me it cut off the top of the figures. This made an unexpectedly unusual and interesting composition that broke down the barrier between dancers and audience. The composition is of dynamism and vitality in colour and form of the dancers stands foiled by the straight uniformity of the thin line of watchers in the background
Size: 22.5cm X 22cm
