From early depictions of people dancing in the pubs and clubs of Bristol and Bradford, dancing has been both a recurrent subject and a device for creating narratives, adding humour, a sense of movement and shifting realities. Indeed, sometimes relationships between people can seem like a bit of a dance! In this painting, part of a series of three, the dance comes into the home. You’re welcome to look for a deeper meaning, but really it’s just a bit of fun!
