This stunning oak and splatted beech wardrobe was originally made for an exhibition. Timothy says this piece was a real ‘labour of love’, developing gradually in his thoughts over the months following a visit to St. Paul’s Cathedral in London in 2008.

A portal is an entrance or means of access to something, and this piece was designed with that notion in mind. Thus becoming a representation of mankind’s progress through life. The Green Man, whose image nestles between the crowns of the oak trees that dominate this piece is a spirit - perhaps the spirit of all green and growing things, present in one form or another throughout human history.

Based on tree lore the oak symbolises, amongst other things, a recognition that we should not seek to know our fate. The beech wood signifies a threshold, a crossing from one place to the next; we each step through the first door, journeying on through life until we reach another through which we must pass, not knowing until we do what lies beyond.
