From a barn on the outskirts of Kings Lynn in Norfolk Toby Winteringham designs and makes beautiful bespoke pieces of contemporary furniture. Thirty years of experience has given this designer an acute and uncompromising eye for detail, as well as helping him establish a deep knowledge of the processes necessary to create high quality furnishings. Toby specialise in hand cut marquetry, veneering and fine cabinet work, which in combination with his use of clean lines allows for a bold and lasting statement to be made. His highly innovative work includes everything from tables, to mirrors and coat hangers, which these can vary from being one off pieces to small batch productions.
Since completing his training at the London Royal College of Art before deciding to settle into his own workshop, Toby has been accepted onto the Crafts Council index of selected makers, and exhibited work in New York, Milan, Dubai and Munich. He holds three Bespoke Guild Mark Certificates awarded by the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers for design and craft excellence. The reasons behind this international appeal become amazingly clear when you take the time to look at Toby’s work. It brings together the old and new in an almost impeccable manner, balancing colour and form to produce a decidedly brilliant collection of fine-looking furniture.
Toby’s clients have included: The Corporation of London; Department of Culture Media & Sports; Foreign & Commonwealth Office; Barbican Centre; Welcome Trust; Benfield Group; FA Premiership; Rihga Royal Hotel
